There will only be one more opportunity to see the winged warriors of the ASCS at Battleground Speedway this year, so fans are encouraged to attend this weekend's event.  It should be noted that there isn't a National ASCS event scheduled for the coming weekend, making very likely that some of the nationally competing teams will make the tow south to Highlands, Texas.

Appearing as support classes for the ASCS Gulf South winged sprint cars are the Battleground Speedway Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Limited Modifieds.

All race fans are encouraged to bring their friends and family to Battleground Speedway on May 15th 2010 for exciting, professional dirt track racing action.  General Admission gates open at 4 PM.  Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 PM with the racing action starting with the heat races at 7 PM.

All seating is General Admission and is $15.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors.  We would like to remind everybody that Battleground is the only area track that doesn't charge admission for kids 12 and under.  Pit passes for this special event will be $30.00.

BATTLEGROUND SPEEDWAY READY FOR THE LONE STAR 50

Hondo, the Texas Longhorn will return to Victory Lane

Highlands, Texas; March 23rd 2010 - - - In just three days, Battleground Speedway will once again host the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, this time for the Lone Star 50.  The latest word is that Hondo, the Texas Longhorn that graced Victory Lane and was popular with both the drivers and the fans, has not passed on as previously reported.  He will, in fact, be back at the Highlands, Texas track to anchor the race victory celebrations.

Mike Walling, owner, operator and promoter at Battleground has been working for most of the month of March, adding new material and resurfacing the track.  "Since I've owned Battleground, the track has never looked so good", Mike stated earlier this week, "The surface is as close to perfect as humanly possible".

All race fans not already planning to attend the event are strongly encouraged to come out to Battleground Speedway this Friday since this is the only appearance for the nationally touring late model series in the Houston Area this year. General Admission gates open at 4:00 PM.  Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 PM with the racing action starting with the heat races at 7:00 PM.

This year’s event will be the Lone Star 50, with a 50 lap feature race to decide the winner of $10,000.00.  Last year, Battleground hosted the Lone Star 100 with Shannon Babb taking home the trophy and the money.  Shannon will be returning to Highlands to defend his title; however several drivers, including 2009 Series Champion Josh Richards, as well as Tim McCreadie, Darrell Smith, Billy Moyer, Chubb Frank, Steve Francis and many others will be looking for the prestigious win.  Local drivers looking to take advantage of their knowledge of the fast, high banked 3/8 mile over the touring regulars include Howard Willis, Kevin Sitton, Chris Holley and Chris Brown.

Appearing as support classes for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series are the Battleground Speedway Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Limited Modifieds.

All seating is General Admission and is $32.00 for adults.  Children 12 under are always free at Battleground Speedway.  Pit passes for this special event will be $38.00, only $6.00 more that General Admission and a real bargain for the fans that want to get the “close up” experience of this level of racing.

Don’t forget to check out the Battleground Speedway website at www.battlegroundspeedway.net for class rules, schedule details and updates and point standings throughout the season.

BATTLEGROUND SPEEDWAY HOSTS THE RETURN OF THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODEL HEROES

The Lone Star 50 marks only Houston area visit for the national touring series

Highlands, Texas; March 3rd 2010 - - - Battleground Speedway will be hosting the return of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on March 26th, 2010.  This will be the only opportunity for race fans in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana to come out and see the stars of the national touring series. The event is only the second time that the series has raced in the Houston area, the first being last year, also at Battleground Speedway.

This year’s event will be the Lone Star 50, with a 50 lap feature race to decide the winner of $10,000.00.  Last year, Battleground hosted the Lone Star 100 with Shannon Babb taking home the trophy and the money.  Shannon will be returning to Highlands to defend his title; however several drivers, including 2009 Series Champion Josh Richards, as well as Tim McCreadie,   Darrell Smith, Billy Moyer, Chubb Frank, Steve Francis and many others will be looking for the win.  Local drivers looking to take advantage of their knowledge of the fast, high banked 3/8 mile over the touring regulars include Howard Willis, Kevin Sitton, Chris Holley and Chris Brown.

Last year, the event winner had the opportunity to share victory lane with Hondo, an authentic Texas Longhorn with a seven foot spread between his horns.  Mike Walling, owner and promoter of Battleground Speedway, has sadly reported that Hondo has gone on to greener pastures.  Mike is actively seeking a replacement and hopes to offer the winner of the event the same kind of special Texas greeting in Victory Lane.

Appearing as support classes for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series are the Battleground Speedway Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Limited Modifieds.

All race fans are encouraged to bring their friends and family to Battleground Speedway on Friday Night, March 26th 2010 for exciting, professional dirt track racing action.  General Admission gates open at 6 PM.  Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 PM with the racing action starting with the heat races at 7 PM.
